Artist Statement
I have been asked by many pepole what is the meaning of the stripes in my art. My answer has two explanations: sculpture and painting. I developed an original sculpture technique in which I use one layer of felt material on top of another to create three-dimensional object using different color combination; therefore stripes become the side effect of this process. Secondly, the backgrounds stripes in my paintings symbolize for me the soul of the universe and its endless possibilities.
Night time is my favorite time for making art. When animals wake up and stars cover the sky, it is the best time to feel the power of the Universe. What I enjoy the most in my work is the creative process starting from the primary idea until the final result. The creation process involves a special feeling of a Devine force guiding me to my work of art. As far as I am concerned, a good piece of art is a one that you want to look at over and over again; a one that puts a smile on your face and makes you feel like it was always there. Like many other artists my goal in art is to entertain the audience.
Ever since I remember myself I was painting, cutting with scissors, sculpting, designing clothes and accessories, and paying extra attention to colors, textures and visual experience in my daily environment.
I have always been attracted by the intense Nature's colors, by the peacock feathers, flowers and trees, butterfly wings, spots of the pretty ladybug, tiger's fur and zebra's stripes, the sea world and all its creatures.
I am inspired by: Japanese culture ,contemporary pop art , TV series, movies, commercial animation, comics, manga, MTV, pop and trip-hop music, fairy- tales, children books, science fiction and real science, religions, pornography, graffiti art, tattoo art and extraterrestrial phenomenon.
I would like to thank my dear and loving Husband for his support and belief in my art.
